The first step towards any kind of natural stone countertop restoration is stripping away any existing sealer or finish. We thoroughly strip your stone countertops so that new stone sealer applications perform optimally.

Sealing

Stone countertops must be properly sealed in order to maintain a good appearance. We use premium Stonetech penetrating sealers to help your granite countertops resist staining & moisture. Even the best sealers are only effective for up to 5 years, and we advise our clients to consider sealing their stone countertops every 2-4 years.

Repairs

Severe damage to stone countertops, such as major chips or deep scratches, require filling these gaps with another material. We use specialized epoxy which is designed to mimic stone texture, and apply tints in order to closely match your existing stone color.

Polishing

Polishing is the only way to restore the surface of natural stone once it has lost its luster. Over time, the crystals within a stone tile will wear down which decreases the amount of light it reflects. This is why stone tiles will eventually appear dull, especially in high-traffic areas. While professional stone cleaning and sealing can improve the look of your stone, only polishing will achieve optimal results. Professional stone polishing will also remove minor scratches from your natural stone.

Honing

Honing is simply a more aggressive form of polishing. This process uses lower grit diamond pads than those used for polishing, which allows for the removal of moderate scratches and etches. Honing is usually followed by polishing unless you desire a “rougher” finish.

Grinding

Grinding is the most aggressive method for refinishing a stone surface. This process is used to remove deep scratches and dents, and also to address lippage (unevenness) between stone tiles. Grinding is always followed by honing.
